A lovely bike, but a bit of a soggy rear !!

The MRA screen really made a difference.

Had it for a couple of years then swapped to a GS... :D

A whole day test ride on a GS !!

The Honda was just too... well, Honda - a good bike, but it lacked character, although with the twin lights, it did dominate the road quite well. I really liked the V-twin engine. The rear shock was a problem - had to be replaced under warranty, but even then it did tend to wallow a bit. The linked brakes were a pain in slow traffic. But it could eat miles quite easily. Oh - and it was expensive to slide along the road on  too much plastic !

The GS just felt more raw, and involving... sitting at the traffic lights, blipping the throttle and feel the torque effect trying to twist the bike ... and the sound - I still need to get the Remus for mine...

It's just a more involving bike. And the telelever / paralever was (for me) a revelation. Much more fun playing around the back roads of Kent / East Sussex.

Oh, and my GS is yellow.... :D

It's called charisma, Honda's don't have it, I should know, I've lost enough money trying to find it :sad1:

Yeah - but not so keen on the newer version - the indicators look a bit weird... plus on my one the extra sticky out ones with the black plastic shroud gave the bike something to slide on without touching the fairing panels....

Yeh I like the look of them too, if and when I get around to rebuying a bike it would be high on my list. Around 2000 picks one up. Honda reliability....

Bit thirsty though....

According to the motoring press the Varadero is up for replacement soon, so we'll see what they come up with.

Well funnily enough last november i flew to Cardiff and bought an immaculate year 2001 vara with 16k miles on the clock, one owner from new and nine service stamps in the book, scorpion exhaust, crash bars, alarm, baglux and bag, hugger all for 2.4k UK of course a bargain I wont compare to my old GS11 as that was to long ago... I like this bike a lot, but am unable to ride at the moment as yet again I am in Asia....
