UK to Pakistan was the plan. Somewhere along the way the plan went out the window.

My name is Andy, in May 2008 I said goodbye to friends and family and set off on what was supposed to be a 6-9 month adventure. And this is going to be my ride report. Some 20 months and 46,000 miles later I thought I better deliver on a promise I made to Nadeem  the night I left.

I am currently in Southern California, just finishing prepping the bike for the next leg. Next week I head into Mexico.

To get the ball rolling I am going to post a few pics from some of the favorite places I have been so far.

Cheers,

Andy + Wobbly

This is the Songanli Pass in Eastern Turkey. Squint and you may just spot me.

Cappodocia, Turkey. Quite possibly the most phallic landscape on the planet.

Sost, Northern Pakistan, Mark 1 Knobblies Stickers still intact

North East Pakistan, close to Afghanistan Border. High level camp 4500+ mtrs

The night it all started. Dartford 2am, clean, shiny and very nervous. Forgot just how wide those boxes used to be, wow!

HID Lighting

Postby MrDetox » Sun Jan 31, 2010 11:06 pm

Just finishing the final prep on the bike before heading across the border.

Last job was to fit a replacement HID lighting kit.

Prior to leaving the UK, Nadeem put in touch with Les Wassal at HID50.com

After hearing about my planned trip Les was good enough to supply me a kit on very favorable terms. Regardless of price, if the kit didn't perform it wouldn't have remained on the bike for the trip.

Happy to report the kit performs brilliantly and stood up to some very harsh conditions. The one failure I did incur was handled very quickly, Les just asked for a shipping address and sent out a new kit.

The light kit is easily installed and is a MASSIVE improvement on the stock BMW lighting and certainly contributes to a safer/better riding experience. The well lit roads of the type we are used to in the UK rarely seen since leaving Europe, the US roads aren't that great!

I'd like to tank Les for his continued support and definitely recommend his products.

Anybody interested in best place to fit this kit on the F650, I can post some pics. Also mods to make your F650 headlights switchable, required by "law" in some places, but also useful mod for cold morning starts or late night returns to campsites etc.
